who IS the best friend

Macy has officially reached the sassy little girl stage. She's been telling all of us that she's our best friend and that we're her best friend.
At night, when I put her to bed, we'll say prayers and she'll whisper, "you're my best friend" as she snuggles deeper into the covers and smiles the biggest smile. How foolish of me to believe this fate would last...quickly, our 'best friend' status was removed the first time I told her not to do something. Yet, this best friend thing has really stuck and she squints up her nose as she says it. She was able to spend a night with Orange Gramma last weekend where she informed her that she was her best friend. Then, when she came home, she even told me "Gramma and I are best friends. You're not her best friend. I'm her best friend."
This morning at daycare, we went to put her picture in the "I'm here board". I asked where she wanted to put her pic because Maddie and Gracie both had their pics in there with slots next to them. She went back and forth for a couple minutes before stating that she was going to put it next to Gracie's (while whispering...) because we're best friends.
ha. I shake my head as I think of it. It's an amazing to watch her growing and discussing her most treasured friendships.
I hope to get some pics up, soon. There is much other news. Jorey is finally walking non-stop. She put on about 3 miles in the street tonight just walking to each neighbor and trying to get run over by one of the bikes or motorized cars flying down the road. :) --Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that our Sunday visit to the park resulted in Macy having to go potty, there was not a port-a-pot, we went behind a tree. I set Jorey down, helped Macy, looked up and found Jorey kicking her leg while doing the "bear walk". (note: we were at the dog park/playing park in rosemount so Reg could run) - she had crawled directly through a fairly fresh pile of dog crap - we luckily had a full pack of wipes to get it off her and were able to stay and go to Wal-Mart - hey, even with her dog-doody leg, she probably smelled better than I did (sans shower--why bother?!)

Well, I hope you're all having a great week. ttfn

A Birthday and a Wedding!

Well, it seems like it wasn't that long ago, but it was the 8th when we celebrated little Jorey Bear's 1st birthday. My porky pie is already 1 and we had the whole family over. Orange and Yellow Papa, All the aunties and uncles...even auntie Sara was able to make it. The only one we were missing was Kara...and that was just a little far to drive for the BBQ.

She got great presents from everyone (as always people were far too generous with the gifts), had her own cake, which she would only stick her finger in while looking at it like it was from outer space. We all thought she'd do some damage, though she is dainty about her bulkiness and she did NOT want cake all over her hands.

Macy and Dad found a frog in the back yard before the party started. His name was 'ribbit' and he was released back into the pond after the party.

Jorey continues to boycot the walking. She's really taking it to extremes now that we know and have seen her walk across the entire living room.

Macy seems to be the ticket. She likes to walk to her way more than she likes to walk to the rest of us. But, we know she'll get there when she's ready. I don't mind babying her for a little bit. She'll be up and running before long and won't want me to ever snuggle her again.

We walked in the Medford Parade with cousin Kory on Friday night. He's running for state representative and he had to rock the crowd. I have to say I almost teared up a couple times just with the whole idea of him going for what he wants and the sacrifice his family will make to get there. It seems strange to say this about someone who is older and many times (not always) wiser than me, but I'm so proud of him for just doing it. He looked like a natural out there shaking hands and waving to the crowd...I just hope that we have some wonderful results. I guess statistics show that only 10% of people will win the first time they run for office. So, that makes the odds even less - Democrats aren't often voted for in that area...but if anyone can do it, it's Korky. Here are some photos of the event. One good thing I know is that we don't need to be there right on time next parade (good thing for our family of chronic tardiness.)

Well, we prepare for another busy week, but I get to golf on Friday at the Peacock Open - the Wendy Jans-Huxford memorial golf tournament at work. Natalie, Nina, Molly and I are a team. We're sure to take home a prize.

And, the jazzy info you've all been waiting for...we need to give a kick and a yell for Aunt Heidi and Kyle. That old dog "finally did it" (as it was put to me by Heidi herself). He proposed and she said YES! So, we have another wedding. The date is set - November 14th, 2008. So, hopefully, Macy and Jorey will have a cousin in October of 2009. (give or take a couple weeks)

Daycare Website

The daycare started a website to display up-to-date photos of the kids on. I looked at it and discovered that there is a photo of Liam (Macy's boyfriend) and one of Jorey with the biggest smile I've ever seen.

I've added a link on the right side of our blog.

have a great day!

Vertigo: Not fun

So, I've heard of the ailment but never had to experience it before. It's no joke. I have felt wasted for 3 days, now. I love that feeling for a few hours, but I can't be driving or doing anything with this darn stuff. I really hope that's what it is and that our friend Kirby, the Dr., is correct when he tells me I'll be fine in a few days. I slept most of the day away yesterday. Ken has helped me with some exercises to feel better and help it go away, though, I'm not certain they are working. Though, today I feel like I'm just a little bit buzzed and not wasted. I can walk down the stairs and around the house without feeling like I'm going down. But, there's this never-ending feeling of the world spinning around me. Due to the fact that I've had a sore neck for a couple weeks, I'm heading to the chiropractor today and will hopefully be cured. [though, it's not likely]. I hope I can get better because I have plans tomorrow to see Gully and get wasted for real!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree

I did it. Today. I used the phrase I hated to hear as a child.

Macy's been on quite a spree of screaming/crying over absolutely nothing - well, not nothing...things like "I wanted to carry that milk glass" or "I don't want to wear my shoes" --things like that.

This morning, I just couldn't take it any more! So, I told her..."Quit crying or I'll give you something to cry about." Then, I did...it worked. She got a hug when she quit crying over the nonsense non-reason for crying.

sometimes they make me lose my mind...though, the hug made me better, too. ;)

Kory For President! (click to read the article in the OPP)

Growing up together in the big city of Meriden, we had big dreams. HUGE dreams. We wanted to be a country western duo...AND, Kory wanted to be the president. While I could never understand the latter --clearly, I never behaved as a political candidate should--I always thought through the years that this, unlike our country duo dream, could be reality. Kory has always done exactly what a good representative should do. Aside from his allergy to physical labor and his annual latex allergy that has landed him in the front yard of a few homes on Halloween, he's the best at rallying troops to do his hard labor for him. Seriously, I've never known someone who can talk so many people into doing his moving, landscaping, painting, etc. While he's always willing to help me out with my tasks, eg: moving day in his flip flops - even waiting on Ken mowing the lawn before beginning, that has always amazed me. As for his public speaking and imagery, I know he'll do an amazing job - he always has been good at being sarcastic and funny while getting his point across to all. He's the type of person people want to jump on board with. Hey, he talked Jason (our other cousin) into dressing like Santa on a 90 degree day in July - wearing a snowmobile suit. He talked Jason AND I into going door-to-door and singing with our bucket, broom, wagon band...and then requesting payment for the show! Hey, Politician! He had it from a tender young age, folks! Now, growing up wasn't all santas and singing songs. We did have our moments that didn't...well...sing. Sometimes--generally when I bucked the system and didn't want to go along with his plan - or vice versa - we would have to fight. On one fateful occurance, I had sawdust thrown in my hair, informed him of how long it took me to wash my hair, screamed naughties at each other, and didn't speak for a whole week! (that was like 5 years, today). He informed his mom that "If Wendy doesn't shape up, she's not coming to my birthday party!" Well, good thing for him and for me, I did shape up and I did get to go to Chuck E' Cheese for skee ball. I can't remember what assortment of crap I gained with my tickets that day, but on (or near) July 28, we did celebrate and forgive the terrible "done-me-wrong" incident. So, now you know some history - hopefully, he'll win the race and work towards making some more!

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Well, it's official. I don't have any babies in the house any more. Sometimes that makes me happy and sometimes sad. While babies are wonderful and sweet, they're a lot of work and that formula is like liquid gold. So, this is a wonderful time for me where the work load and financial burden are concerned. My little girl is 1 today. She had fun opening presents and working on walking. She has about a 7% interest in walking - she just REALLY doesn't care if she does it or not. Even tonight when she walked 4 steps to me and to dad, she just didn't care. It wasn't even slightly entertaining for her. So, hopefully we can get her cruising, soon. Macy really enjoyed opening the gifts - boy oh, boy! And, Jorey thought the tent and play tunnel were pretty cool - though, she wouldn't smile when I took the pictures...stinker...
We're having a very small birthday party for her on Sunday. Maybe we'll have a pool and fun in the sun --just maybe! Could there possibly be some sun AND heat? Please?!?
Happy Birthday to my little squirt!

Jumpin' Jamboree!

This weekend held a wonderous - yes, wonderous (don't ask me where that word just came from) Spring Jamboree at Macy and Jorey's Daycare. Saturday morning, we got up and got the house cleaned up, finally put some shorts on for the first time this year, and went over to Leaps & Bounds daycare center in Rosemount. At arrival, we noticed they had a concussion machine - you know - one of those jumpers that all the kids get in and jump and get really tired until they jump the wrong way once and then bang their heads on each others? - ya, one of those - They had a giraffe jumper! Wow, was there a lot of jumping and laughing, and CRYING, but mostly laughing in the jumper. It was so cute to see so many of the kids really breaking out of their shells and trying to be brave - every one of them kept looking around to make sure Mom or Dad was watching. One little guy was actually convulsing from the fear of possibly getting in the jumper - others went in with smiles and came out with smiles...then, there were the fateful few who came out with fits, screams, and bumps on their heads.

Macy and her friend Makenna spent much of the day fighting over our wagon, but when they weren't doing that, they did have fun jumping, crafting and then...well, fighting over babies -- what else?! After some tears and a mini tantrum, we escaped unscathed.

[side note: Macy just now asked me, "Would you like to see my comb?" (because she's combing my hair in an abusive fashion right now.) I said, "Sure". She replied, "Well, you can't see it right now because I'm using it." --demon seed...
I thought this photo of her was fitting for that caption - this is her after a cookie when Makenna sat in the wagon without her approval - it's hard to see in this picture, but she does have chocolate all over her face.

Anyways, back to our Saturday. Following the Jamboree, we came home and enjoyed some Mr. Freezies in the front yard. They were both hot and sticky with mud caked to the sticky spots, but we just hosed ourselves down and went in the house for some naps. I had some prep work to do for my jewelry party I hosted - had I known I would have only 3 guests, I may have prepped a bit less! :) But, the house needed work and everyone loves snacks...so, why not. We thought the house was possibly going to blow away in the storm, but after about 5 minutes, the sun came back out and we were safe. My hostas are spotted and suffered a brutal attack of hail but, hey, I was bound to kill most of my plants/flowers anyways - now I'm using that as the excuse regardless when it happens.
Aunties Nad and Kenz moved into an apartment together on Sunday. Lucky for us, Nad had this car at her pad and didn't want it in her apartment. Score one for Macy - she was riding in style before she decided to help water plants [to help avoid their pending death] and to hook Reginald up with some fresh water from the hose. It's his favorite thing!
Yellow Granny (Fry) was really trying to get our little pork chop walking, but she just isn't quite there - she'll take a couple steps and when she realizes she's alone in her quest, she crumbles. Yesterday, she did take a couple steps in the grass - unfortunately, she had to do her straight-leg-zombie-walk and then toppled over and did a summersault down the grass. That may be affecting her negatively...maybe.
