Happy 4th of July & a Private Dancer? No...

Well, we made it down to the Blooming Prairie parade again this year. This time, we spectated rather than walk with Kork in the parade. We figured he had enough walkers and that we would be on for marching in the election years...because Macy loves to yell "Vote For Kory!" and she would not have done that this year...guess she could have said, "Thanks for voting for Kory", but that loses something.

Macy, Jorey, and cousins Olivia and Owen got all sorts of candy and trinkets...even cheese! They thought it was pretty cool when the big shriner's dragon came and puffed a big puff of smoke at them and Mom. Dad was right on the curb with them to make sure nothing happened...even when the crazy redneck lady tried to cross the parade while the go-carts were moving at about 30 mph. After nearly causing a pile-up, we were able to rest easy while everyone shook their heads at her. :)

We enjoyed (well, everyone but Jorey) fireworks at the Kath household. They were great. Jorey hated every minute, but she thought she might like them next year. She closed her eyes and buried her head in my neck until they were done and then perked up and said, "Are they all done?!"

In addition to our 4th festivities, we planted flowers and had some other good times this past week. One item to note is that Macy and I often have some dance parties... I use the term 'dance' loosely, considering that my sister once labeled me "Flail-A-Puss" and my loving husband once said, "Good God, are you white!". Anyways, you get the picture. We flail.
The other night, I put some music on while I was working and I didn't know what to do with the DANCE that came out of my not-quite-4-year-old's little body!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jorey (yes, late...get used to it)

So, the turkey turned 2 on the 5th, while Ken and I were down in West Palm Beach, FL. It was one of those times where you make a decision and then feel terrible about it...even though she didn't know it was her birthday. While we were away (on our much needed trip), she told orange gramma (my mom) that she wanted her mom and dad and wanted to go home. Poor thing.

Once we were back, we finally settled in on a date for the party and we had all of her greatest fans over for some pizza and a party. Jorey got lots of books, baby apparrell and accessories, a hot wheels, and all sorts of other goodies. Thanks everyone for all the cool stuff...that makes its way from one end of our house to the other every week. :)
She really enjoyed her cupcake, having happy birthday sung to her, and taking some photos with auntie Amy.
When Jorey blew out the candles, she said the whole time..."My wanna blow out the candles...My wanna blow out the candles." Then, with just one quick blow, they were out! Here's a little video.

Friday after daycare, we picked up a "Wounded Knee". Macy had suffered a fall while running to the park. She was running hand-in-hand with her friend Logan when she fell and he kept running. "But, he said he was sorry and that it was an accident." --she smiles when she tells the story, which leads me to believe that her daycare boyfriend Liam had better keep a heads-up!

Due to her request that BOTH Ken and I pick them up from daycare together, we did. And, then we went out to eat at Carbone's. When we got home and I grabbed her out of the car, the wound on her elbow was oozing so badly that it dripped on my arm...that was pretty sweet considering my gag reflex to such things. Due to her reigning drama-queen status, though, there was no room for me to be feeling sorry for myself...not for the drip of oozing wound, nor for the fact that I was the chosen one to remove and replace the nasty bandages. Well, we had a lot of talk about how we have to be tough and how to be brave and that it does hurt, but there's no reason to scream in Mom's ear...things like that.

Saturday morning, when she woke up, she was still the queen of helplessness. She was asking Ken to do everything for her...including picking up her hippo. "Dad, can you please pick-up my hippo? I have an owie.". ha. She actually was walking without bending the right arm or the left leg when we got her and that has continued all day, every day with the exception of sprinting and jumping down the sidewalk at her dad's softball game on Saturday. I can only assume she forgot that she was going with that level of drama.

Following Saturday morning's back-and-forthe, though, we've really made some progress. She has been able to actually support ME while we're doing bandage change. When I have to pull the tape REALLY FAST so that she doesn't get her hairs pulled, she has told me the last two times..."Great job, Mommy. You're doing such a good job. That doesn't even hurt!". Ah, Macy...such a sweet girl.

One other funny thing...today, we attended a baby shower for a co-worker, Marie, who is having twin boys any day, now. When their dad got home, they asked where he was and I said he was in the shower. Jorey says, "Is he in a baby shower?" ha ha. How funny the things that make sense to us, that must completely baffle a two-year-old. Showers? Wet? Showers? Balloons and Cake? hmmm.

3rd Month is a charm

Wowza. I need to stop procrastinating on these blog entries because now they all read the same. There's been a large supply of funny at the Fry house lately and we've been so busy that we just are enjoying it too much to stop and take the time to share. In viewing the photos that haven't been posted yet, I came to the realization that:

1. Easter was a long time ago...but I haven't blogged since before...

2. My kids have changed...even since I blogged last. It's like looking into the archives.

3. The fact that our computer died is no excuse because that only resulted in 3 weeks down time.

4. I guess I should put this on my calendar?

Anyways, going way back when...let's see what Easter was all about. We enjoyed two family gatherings at Orange AND Yellow Papa's house. The easter bunny came to both and to out house, too! That crazy bunny is busy and knows how to spoil 2 girls!

Last month, we went on the UmbrElla of Hope walk to remember Ella Hauschildt, who passed away at the age of 7 from a brain tumor. It was the coldest day! I think it was about 50 degrees with strong winds. We wore our winter gear and the girls had 2 blankets on them, but we walked the 2 mile trek and that helped warm me up in a hurry! Due to an unforeseen emergency, Macy peed on her pants when we had to stop 1/2 way through to goin the woods, on a hill, in the midst of weeds, while Jorey screamed "I want to get out! I want to go potty too! I want to get out! The entire time...little sh*t! Then, Macy got crazy hair, Granny painted her face, and they jumped in the jumper until their feet were too cold since the jumpers were frozen. Though, there were lots of kids there, it was beautiful, and helps make me remember that I have so much to be thankful for. It's amazing that when you marvel at a parent for getting through something like that, you can somehow get yourself to handle more than you ever thought you could because you don't know how you'd ever find the strength to handle that situation and they do. John and Erica truly celebrate the life of their little girl. And, while they miss her every day and have many days that are hard to get through, they put a lot of energy into trying to help others. It's amazing.

Fast Forward...Fast Forward... I can't fit everything in.

This weekend, we enjoyed some of Dad's softball games in Albertville. He played at 8am on Saturday, but that's OK. We made the trek, and then got to play at the Carnival! Our first ride was the ferris Wheel. Jorey had a death grip on me the whole time, but she did enjoy it after she realized (on the 98th rotation) that she was safe. Macy loved it! She was flapping her wings like a bird and peeking over the side and just having a hay day. They gave us an extra long ride since there were only 7 kids there when we arrived. Then, we went down the super long, bumpy slide. They both giggled so hard on the way down, we had to do that a few times. Then, we were off to the motorcycles, where Jorey refused to ride in the back seat of the 3-seat hogs. Once in the driver's seat, she was happy as can be (even though she tried NOT to smile the whole time). Macy, of course was waving and wearing a huge smile all the way around, since she's never shy to be the happiest girl. If you're thinking pics would help with the visual, believe me...I know this. I didn't bring the camera. I figure we'll need to have a repeat at the Steele County fair to get a few, there. Our final rides were on the trucks and cars that go in circles. Ken said those rides were lame...and...I'd agree if they were not my most enjoyed ride as a kid because if you ride in front, you get to drive. So what if you are not steering. At that age, you feel like you are and it was so cool. The girls loved it and a couple of the carnies thought they were so cute that they gave them 2-for-1. How 'bout it!

Today, we opted out of the softball tournament and went to the park and the pool instead. Lifetime in Lakeville has a huge, zero-depth pool with water slides and everything. The girls and I went there and hung in the sun. About an hour after we got there, some kid dropped a brown shark into the pool and caused a massive evacuation to the indoor pool for 1.5 hours until they could be sure they sucked up every crumb. Oh, brother...pooh in the pool.

For a few of the funnies:

Macy told me this morning that there were robots that would eat me. Then, shared that if robots got me, they would take me to their house and show me scary things! ooh! Scary things? What kinds? --she wasn't sure, but just knew that they would. She also wasn't sure who told her that.

Jorey just likes to eat bluestrawberries. (aka blueberries)

peace out until next time. My goal is to update once/week. Yep - it's a lofty goal with one entry in 4 months...

Like Father, Like Daughter

Sick day, again, at the Fry house.
Jorey got a fever, everyone got to go home - Well, everyone except Dad. Ear Infection.

It was another long day trying to accomplish work-related tasks while not losing my mind.
The night progressed, it neared bedtime and Macy was getting tired.
She wanted to go to bed, but we were watching one more thing on TV quick. I was holding her with my hands right under her butt when she ripped a huge long toot!

When she was done, we all laughed and she felt like it was pretty funny. Dad wanted to have a hug and a kiss goodnight and I mentioned that if she had any left, she should save it for him and toot on his arm, too. Then, Dad asked her to go ahead and do it again if she had another one. She, very simply, replied, "Yep, I've got more.", squinted, strained, and then pushed out another one and smiled a big smile at me.

It was cute and disgusting all at the same time.
We definitely live in a house where farts are funny.

To Eat or Not to Eat...

I have heard the far fetched tales of when my sister Natalie and I were taking baths together and the big brown shark came. Apparently, I would forget that the bath is not the place to do these things. Well, the other night, Macy and Jorey were taking a bath when Macy said she had to go potty. While helping her [on the toilet], Jorey suddenly says, "Out, Oh no, Mommy!" I looked over to the tub and saw her holding something...that something resembled...yep...it was a pea! Where the heck did a pea come from? In all my bewildered wondering, I noticed her considering the pea as a snack just as I noticed the load below her butt. Yes, she had a bit of a situation in the tub, the peas must have been eaten at lunch, and I stopped her just before she threw it in her mouth for round 2. Yikes. There are times in my life when I feel like a failure and times when I feel like a super star. That night, I felt like both. What a failure for averting my attention the 40 seconds it took for my near-2-year-old to drop a bomb in the tub, and then a super star for fishing her out, cleaning her up, not tossing my cookies when scooping the remainders out of the tub, and for stopping that pea from round 2 of the digestion. Macy will forever be traumatized by that sight and brings it up often since then.

Now, for a little quizzicle. Macy and Daddy were sitting in the kitchen this week after a bath...but not the bath that ended with the bomb session. This was a bath with auntie Buggy's wonderful heart sprinkles. They were both smelling sweet and clean. Well, Dad came over and let loose a big loud one right on Macy. What do you suppose her reply was? Vote to the right.
And, for those of you that participated in the last quizzicle, you were all correct. Macy informed me that she sucks her snotties up her nose and swallows them because she "likes them and they are delicious." It's true!

What a Crazy Bunch of Goyles

Well, you'll see a quiz over to the right, here. One that could be as troubling to you as it was to me...but, I don't want to ruin the quiz by giving you the answer right now. Macy has started the sucking of the snot through the nose and then the obvious swallow. I gag every time. What is it that makes people really want to do this? This is one of those times when I struggle to remember she's only 3 and doesn't realize how gross that is! Friday night, we let the boys go out and raise a ruckus, while the moms and kiddos played. Misty, Laura and I enjoyed some classy wine in a box. White Zin. They were dazzled by the elegance of it all. Yellow Gramma even stopped by for a little sip of the good stuff. The kids played all day. They loved running around and taking out EVERY toy we own. But, they did help put away so it was pretty cool. Macy and Jorey now have new friends in Abby, Brandon, and James. We played so hard that some didn't make it through the 10pm showing of Little Rascals...Macy's favorite movie. She has a crush on Butch, who is the bad boy. I don't know why she couldn't choose the dorky, sweet little alfalfa. If this continues, Ken's going to have his hands full in a few years.
The girls all dressed up in high heel play shoes and wrapped their blankies around themselves like dresses. They said they were princesses. How funny - Here they are "cheesing".

On Sunday, our family enjoyed the MN Zoo and "Under the Sea" at the Imax theatre. It was supposed to be 3D, but Macy and Jorey were not going to wear their sassy specs for very long. I'm wondering if they made these specs large enough...I'm not sure anything smaller would have covered my eyes! Well, regardless, we had a great time. When Macy was wearing her specs, she was reaching out trying to touch the fish and SNAKES as they swam toward us. It was really entertaining.

Macy told her dad the other day, that when she's mommy's age, she wants to have 2 babies and name them Mitz and John. Hilarious. I'm not sure where she comes up with this. She's also named her babies Bandy a lot...where did Bandy come from?

I want to go drink beards

Macy's watching the videos from our recent ski trip to Lutsen, where Ken's wearing his "kissy pants". A pair of J Crew Jammy pants I bought for him about 6 years ago. He recently told someone that an old girlfriend bought them for him...is this a sign that he's mourning the loss of the girlfriend I was? I had to very gently remind him that I bought those for him...

Anyways, Macy looks at the video and says,

"Mom, what is Dad doing in that movie with his kissy pants on?!"

I said, "Well, he's just hanging out."

She says, "Well, I want to go where you guys are."

"You want to go skiing?"

"No, I want to go with you to drink some beard."

uh oh...Is she destined to be like Dad?

We did just arrive home from Lutsen on Sunday night. What a fantastic 3 days of skiing and fun. We went with family and friends and enjoyed many, many laughs.

This photo is of someone's butt skin. Yes, that's right...butt skin. In an attempt to depants one of our fearless participants during an undies-only wii game, someone got a bit rough and shed some skin off. Zoykes.

The quote of the weekend was, "Wendy, are you hung over?"

"No."

"Oh, you look like it." ha! Whoever said that deserved to get skin ripped off his butt!

All In All, it was an awesome weekend with great weather. We missed our little twirps a lot, but they had lots of fun with Orange Gramma & Papa. I'm sure Gramma's had a few naps in their absence, already. I have more videos I'll post to the website when I get more time. We're back to the daily grind...aaaaahhhh!
